The counter-playbook
First, stop private negotiation — every payment made under threat funds and escalates the harassment; these operations re-extort payers indefinitely. Second, preserve evidence: screenshots of threats, call recordings where lawful, the morphed images (hard as that is), the app's permissions screen showing contact access. Third, file the cyber complaint on cybercrime.gov.in — category: online harassment/extortion — and a police complaint; these apps' local agents are traceable and do get arrested. Fourth, complain on the RBI Sachet portal against the illegal lending operation itself.
Then the piece that changes the dynamic fastest: a legal notice from counsel. Harassment operations are volume businesses — they chase the thousand silent victims, not the one with a lawyer on record who has documented everything for prosecution.
